Vinyasa, also called flow because of the smooth way that the poses run together, is one of the most popular contemporary styles of yoga. In vinyasa yoga, each movement is synchronized to a breath. Vinyasa yoga benefits include increased flexibility, mental focus, cardiovascular conditioning, calorie-burn and muscle development. Mindfully moving through the continual flowing poses during a vinyasa class can also help alleviate the static thoughts that may be running through your head. Focusing on the inhale and exhale of your breath results in a positive, calming effect on your central nervous system.
